The National Planning Commission (NPC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, the United Nations Development Programme, the European Union, and the Graca Machel Trust, last night held the Green Entrepreneurs Investment Forum at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe. The event brought together stakeholders from government, private sector, and development partners to support local entrepreneurs advancing climate-smart solutions in line with the Malawi 2063 vision.
Speaking during the forum, NPC Acting Director General Dr. Grace Kumchulesi stressed that the Malawi 2063 First 10-year Implementation Plan (MIP-1) cannot be achieved without the private sector.
“Malawi is not short of ideas, our entrepreneurs are proof. What they need is technical support, capacity building, and financing,” she said.
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Christina Zakeyu, who was the guest of honour at the event, echoed the need for urgent and collective action.
She called for strengthened collaboration among government, the private sector, and entrepreneurs to drive the country’s green transformation agenda.
The Graca Machel Trust, represented by Ms. Evelyn Kamanga, reaffirmed its commitment to empowering over 10,000 women through green business initiatives, especially in climate-smart agriculture.
