FACTS ABOUT PHALOMBE

Phalombe is a district in the Southern Region of Malawi. The district covers an area of 1,394 sq. km. and has a population of 231,990.

Phalombe has an international border with Mozambique on the east and on the south share the massive Mulanje Mountain range with Mulanje district. Phalombe has an agrarian community with the main cash crop grown being tobacco. Food crops grown include maize, beans, groundnuts and pigeon peas. Other pulses are also grown.

Phalombe has 2 second level subdivisions of 1. TA Mkhumba, and 2. TA Nazombe.
