NPC commissioners meet President Chakwera

Commissioners of the National Planning Commission (NPC) on Wednesday, August 25, 2020 had an audience with His Excellency the President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe where they briefed the president on progress made in the development of the successor to Vision 2020.

In his remarks, President Chakwera said his government is committed to long term development planning and continuity of good projects, policies and initiatives from previous administrations and assured the commissioners of his government’s support towards NPC toensure that it achieves its objectives.

On his part, Chairperson of the NPC Professor Richard Mkandawire commended the President and his government for believing in long term planning and curtailing “short-termism” and policy discontinuities.

“Instead, you and your Tonse Alliance administration have clearly shown that you’ll live this talk [of continuity in policy and planning] as witnessed lately in the launch of the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDSIII) review report by the Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima”, said Prof. Mkandawire.

He took the opportunity to thank President Chakwera for accepting to grace the inaugural annual National Development Conference which will be officially opened by the president on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
