The National Planning Commission (NPC) has joined Care Malawi in their routine monitoring of intervention progress in Mangochi and Zomba.
The aim of this development is to appreciate progress in several projects being implemented by Care Malawi and how they are contributing to the realization of Malawi 2063 national vision through its First 10-year Implementation Plan (MIP-1).
One of the projects is called ‘Restore Africa’ and aimed at restoring and regenerating trees in over 350,000 hectares of land in Malawi.
The five-year project, commenced in 2022 and is being implemented in seven districts namely: Mzimba, Chitipa, Ntcheu, Zomba, Neno, Machinga and Mangochi.
Speaking on Tuesday in Makoli Village, Mangochi, with a group of community members who are implementing this project, NPC Director of Development Planning, Dr Grace Kumchulesi appreciated the work that Care Malawi is doing in transforming the livehoods of many communities, especially in the Village group Makoli.
“We are interested to see such kind of transformative projects and this project is unique enough to be scaled up to reach every district in Malawi,” said Kumchulesi.
