Oxford University Awards NPC Boss

Lilongwe, Malawi, Monday, May 6, 2024 –

The University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government in the United Kingdom has recognised National Planning Commission (NPC) Director General Dr. Thomas Munthali with a Public Service Award that will see him, among other things, travelling to the university for a two-week Rising Executive Public Leaders Programme between June and July 2024.

The programme recognizes excellence in public service and supports a selected number of awardees across the globe, with capacity building through executive leadership mentorship offered by world-renowned experts and leaders, among other things.

Munthali has been key to the envisioning, launch, popularisation and implementation oversight of the Malawi 2063 vision and its First 10 Year Implementation Plan (MIP-1) whose formulation the NPC has successfully coordinated since 2019 when he joined as its first director general.
