The National Planning Commission (NPC) alongside the Department of Civic Education in the Ministry of Local Government, Unity, and Culture, had its final national consultations on the Integrated Mindset Change Program, that aimed at fostering a transformative mindset in line with the Malawi 2063 Vision.
The meeting was held in Lilongwe, following earlier sessions in Mzuzu and Blantyre.
Speaking during the event, NPC Development Planning Manager, Sipho Biliati, emphasised patriotism as an instrument of national transformation.
“Change begins with us. We must be patriotic and committed to building our country because no one will come to change how we think therefore the change that will happen now will benefit our children and the next generation to come,” he said
On the other hand, Principal Secretary in the Department of National Unity Dr. Elizabeth Chindebvu said that for mindset change to happen, we need to be one as Malawians and one as a nation , therefore, everyone has a role to pray as a citizen.
“Mindset change is an activity for One Malawi, One Nation. Every individual has a role to play as a citizen in order to achieve the Malawi 2063 vision,” she said.
The consultation meeting attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, persons with disabilities, local councils, religious leaders, youth and women’s groups, and civil society organisations.
The Integrated Mindset Change Program seeks to transform citizens’ attitudes, behaviors, and values to support inclusive growth, self-reliance, and national unity in line with the Malawi 2063 pillars.
