The National Planning Commission (NPC) on Friday, 28th July, 2023 interacted with members of its Youth Core Advisory Panel (Youth CAP) and other stakeholders in youth service to discuss new terms of reference (TOR) for the panel that will ensure that young people are playing their rightful role in the realisation of the Malawi 2063 national vision.
The meeting took place at NPC offices in Lilongwe and was also attended by representatives of the Department of Youth, the National Youth Council of Malawi and political parties in Parliament.
NPC Director of Development Planning Dr. Grace Kumchulesi said young people are key to the realization of the Malawi 2063, hence the importance of the meeting as it will ensure effective involvement of the youth in its implementation.
“MW2063 is youth centric, hence young people are at the centre of its implementation,” she said.
Core-Chair of the Youth CAP Arshan Kossam said the panel has enjoyed working with NPC over the years and looks forward to a more energized involvement now that we are in the implementation phase of the Malawi 2063.
“Our work started when the vision was being developed but now that implementation has started, we needed to revisit the terms so that our role is clearly defined,” he said.
The Youth CAP consists members from all regions of the country with diversified expertise and influence. It was constituted in 2020 in consultation with National Youth Council of Malawi to ensure that young people are given a platform to contribute their ideas in the formulation and implementation of the Malawi 2063.
