National Planning Commission (NPC) Director General Dr. Thomas Munthali today delivered a key note speech at the first ever National Youth Summit which was officially opened today in Lilongwe by Minister of Youth Honourable Uchizi Mkandawire, MP.
In his key note address at the summit which was held under the theme ‘A renewed commitment to youth development towards Malawi 2063’, Munthali said the National Vision will be kept alive by the energetic, innovative and unrelenting spirit of the young people of this country, supported by well-meaning partners both state and non-state actors.
“Let us collectively renew our commitment to youth development and to creating spaces for youth participation and contribution in every development space. Young people are the torchbearers, the change-makers, and the leaders of today and the impending future,” he said.
He said the Vision will only be achieved if young people will be empowered to be active participants in its implementation, just as they were in its formulation. “The young people of today are the key drivers of our success. By investing in their potential, we are investing in a brighter and more resilient Malawi,” said Munthali.
