The team from the National Planning Commission is today in Dedza taking part in an author orientation workshop organised by the Malawi Union of Academic and Non-fiction Authors (MUANA). The workshop brings together writers who will contribute to two key national initiatives: the localisation of the Malawi 2063 Vision (MW2063) and the development of children’s literature.
The orientation meeting is focusing on translating and reviewing the simplified version of the MW2063 source book, which is already in English, Chichewa, Chitumbuka and Chiyao into Chisena, Chitonga and Chingonde. This will help ensure that the message and aspirations of MW2063 reach more communities in languages they easily understand.
The orientation meeting will also embark on the development of twenty children’s book titles to be published in both English and Chichewa. These books will explore themes such as cyber and digital literacy, financial literacy and the MW2063, areas considered essential in shaping informed, empowered and future-ready young Malawians.
NPC’s presence at the workshop is meant to provide authors with a deeper understanding of the vision’s core ideas, enabling them to translate and create content that accurately reflects the country’s Medium and long-term goals.
