The National Planning Commission (NPC) on Friday, July 21, 2023 signed a memorandum of understanding with Save the Children Malawi aimed at making sure that the implementation of the Malawi 2063 is response to the rights and needs of Malawian children.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lilongwe, NPC Director General Dr. Thomas Munthali said the MOU will among other things see the two organisations working together to ensure that children are at the centre of MW2063 implementation and are made aware of the vision
“The Malawi 2063 is a vision that is centred around children and the youth, so this MOU is very important as it will ensure that the owners of the vision – young people – are at the focus of its realization,” said Munthali.
On his part, Save the Children Malawi Country Director Mr. Ashebir Debebe said through the MOU, his organization will – among other things – support activities that ensures inclusiveness of children in the development of Malawi through the MW2063.
He said apart from advocating for child friendly policies and programmes, Save the Children will support the dissemination of Malawi 2063 messages to children across Malawi as well as ensuring that they feedback is obtained and considered on how implementation of the MW2063 is impacting them.
